Here is something most old paper pages will not tell you.
Of all the Gujarat Police Constable old paper sets floating around the internet, only two were set in the format you will actually face. Every other paper, the 2022 one, the 2019 one, the 2016 one, was written for an exam that no longer exists.
That is not a small technicality. The old papers were 100-mark tests. The current one is 200 marks across three hours, split into two parts that you must clear separately. If you have been practising on a stack of pre-2025 papers and feeling ready, you have been rehearsing for the wrong exam.
This page explains which papers match, how to use the older ones without being misled by them, and where to get official copies instead of the retyped versions doing the rounds on Telegram.
Why Only Two Police Constable Old Paper Sets Match Today’s Exam
The Gujarat Police Recruitment Board was constituted on 7 March 2024. With it came new recruitment rules, and a completely redesigned written exam for the Lokrakshak cadre.
The first exam held under that new pattern was on 15 June 2025. The second was on 14 June 2026.
That is the whole list. Two papers. Every other Gujarat Police Constable old paper predates the new rules.
| Feature | Older papers (2022 and before) | Current pattern (2025 onwards) |
|---|---|---|
| Total marks | 100 | 200 |
| Structure | Single paper | Part A and Part B |
| Duration | Shorter | 3 hours |
| Separate qualifying gate per part | No | Yes, 40% each |
| Gujarati comprehension as its own section | No | Yes, 20 marks |
So when you see a site offering eight Gujarat Police Constable old paper downloads from 2012 to 2025, understand what you are actually getting. Six of them test your general knowledge well enough. Only two of them test you in the shape of the real thing.
The Exam Pattern Every Current Police Constable Old Paper Follows
Before you open a police constable old paper, know the structure it is built around. Two hundred questions, one mark each, three hours, and a 0.25 penalty for every wrong answer.
Part A — 80 marks
| Subject | Marks |
|---|---|
| Reasoning and Data Interpretation | 30 |
| Quantitative Aptitude | 30 |
| Comprehension in Gujarati Language | 20 |
Part B — 120 marks
| Subject | Marks |
|---|---|
| The Constitution of India | 30 |
| Current Affairs, Science and Technology, General Knowledge | 40 |
| History, Cultural Heritage and Geography of Gujarat and Bharat | 50 |
You need 40 percent in each part separately. That means at least 32 out of 80 in Part A and 48 out of 120 in Part B. Score 110 in Part B and 31 in Part A, and you are out of the merit list regardless of your total.
If you want the full topic list for each subject, it is on our Gujarat Police Constable syllabus page, with every Part B topic reproduced in Gujarati exactly as the board printed it.
A trap to watch for. Several well-known sites describe the constable exam as two papers, a 200-mark MCQ paper plus a 100-mark descriptive paper. That is the PSI pattern, not the constable one. The Lokrakshak exam has no descriptive paper at all. If a page tells you otherwise, it is describing the wrong cadre.
The 14 June 2026 Police Constable Old Paper: Start Here
This is the freshest Gujarat Police Constable old paper there is, and it is the one I would open first.
It was set under Advertisement No. GPRB/202526/1, the recruitment for 12,733 Lokrakshak posts. The board has since released the final answer key, published candidate marks, and on 14 August 2026 issued the list of candidates called for document verification.
One detail matters if you are checking your answers. When the final key came out, the board changed the correct answer to Question 16 from option D to option B. Anyone who scored themselves against the provisional key has that one wrong. Always check against the final key.
Candidates unhappy with their marks could apply for OMR rechecking with a Rs. 500 demand draft before 26 July 2026.
The 15 June 2025 Police Constable Old Paper: The First of the New Pattern
This one is historically interesting as well as useful. It was the first exam ever set under the new 200-mark structure.
It covered 12,472 vacancies under Advertisement No. GPRB/202324/1, across Unarmed Constable, Armed Constable, SRPF and Jail Sepoy posts. The final answer key came out on 30 July 2025 and results followed on 6 August 2025.
Again, there is a detail worth knowing. After reviewing candidate objections, the board cancelled Questions 52 and 108 entirely. If you solve this Gujarat Police Constable old paper and get either of those wrong, do not lose sleep over it. Nobody was marked on them.
Between them, the 2025 and 2026 papers give you 400 real questions in the current format. That is a genuinely substantial amount of practice, and it is where most of your mock-test time should go.

The Pattern column is the one to watch. It tells you which police constable old paper matches the exam you will sit, and which ones are for content only.
| Year | Pattern | Question Paper |
|---|---|---|

| 2025 (15 June) | Current — 200 marks | Download |
| 2022 | Old — 100 marks | Download |
| 2019 | Old — 100 marks | Download |
| 2016 | Old — 100 marks | Download |

Where the official Gujarat Police Constable old paper files come from
For the two current-pattern papers, the Gujarat Police Recruitment Board publishes the question paper, OMR sheets and answer keys on gprb.gujarat.gov.in. The 2025 exam materials were also hosted on the dedicated recruitment portal, lrdgujarat2021.in.
For any older Gujarat Police Constable old paper, there is a real problem you should know about.
Competing sites disagree about which years the exams were even held. One lists 2011, 2014, 2016 and 2018. Another lists 2012, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2022. Part of this is because a recruitment advertised in one year often holds its exam in the next. But part of it is simply careless copying.
On one popular page, a reader left a comment pointing out that the 2016 paper posted there did not match the paper actually set on 23 October 2016. That is the risk with older files. Many were retyped from memory by candidates after the exam, not scanned from the original.
So treat older papers as general knowledge practice, not as gospel. If an answer looks wrong, check it against a textbook rather than trusting the key that came with the file.
How to Use an Older Police Constable Old Paper Without Being Misled
A pre-2025 police constable old paper is not useless. It is just useful for a different reason.
The value of an older police constable old paper is content. Gujarat history, geography, cultural heritage, the Constitution and general science questions repeat across decades, because there are only so many ways to ask about the Solanki dynasty or the Narmada river. Solve an old paper and you will meet questions that turn up again in 2026.
What they cannot teach you is the shape of the exam. Here is how to split your time.
- For timing and format practice, use only the 2025 and 2026 papers. Three hours, 200 questions, a real OMR sheet.
- For content and fact-building, mine the older papers. Read them question by question and note every fact you did not know.
- Never time yourself on an old paper and treat the score as a prediction. A 100-mark paper tells you nothing about how you will pace 200 questions over three hours.
- Skip the reasoning and maths sections of very old papers if you are short on time. The current exam gives those 60 marks in Part A, and the question style has moved on.
How to Solve a Current Police Constable Old Paper Properly
Downloading the 2026 police constable old paper takes thirty seconds. Most candidates then skim it, recognise half the questions, and feel prepared. It does very little.
Here is what actually works.
- Set a three-hour timer and close every book. The exam gives you roughly 54 seconds per question. You need to feel that pace, not just know it.
- Use a printed OMR sheet. Darkening 200 bubbles takes real time, and it comes out of your three hours.
- Mark option E on every question you skip. Leaving a bubble blank costs 0.25, exactly like a wrong answer. Option E costs nothing.
- Score Part A and Part B separately. Then check both against the 40 percent line. Plenty of candidates clear the total comfortably and fail one part.
- Apply the penalty honestly. Correct answers minus 0.25 for every wrong, blank or double-marked question. That is your real score.
- Use the final answer key, never the provisional one. Remember Question 16 in 2026 and Questions 52 and 108 in 2025.
- Re-solve the same police constable old paper after three weeks. If your score has not moved, you remembered the key rather than learning the topic.
What to write down after every police constable old paper
Four numbers, in the same notebook each time. Your Part A score. Your Part B score. The number of questions left when time ran out. And which single subject cost you the most marks.
After three papers a pattern appears, and it is rarely the one candidates expect. Most assume their weakness is general knowledge. More often it turns out to be Gujarati comprehension, which is 20 marks sitting inside Part A and is easy to under-practise.
What Keeps Coming Back Across Every Police Constable Old Paper
Some areas return so reliably across every Gujarat Police Constable old paper that they are close to guaranteed marks.
Gujarat’s history and dynasties come up in almost every paper, old and new. So do the state’s rivers, dams, national parks and districts. Cultural heritage questions on folk dances, fairs, festivals and Gujarati literature appear year after year, and in the current pattern that whole block is worth 50 marks.
Constitution questions circle the same ground: fundamental rights and duties, directive principles, the President and Governor, Parliament, and Panchayati Raj. Science questions stay at school level and repeat their favourite topics, acids and bases, electricity, the human body, the solar system.
Keep one notebook for every repeated fact you meet. By the time you have worked through five Gujarat Police Constable old paper sets, it will be the most useful revision document you own.
Mistakes to Avoid With a Police Constable Old Paper
- Treating an old 100-mark police constable old paper as a mock test for a 200-mark exam.
- Practising for a descriptive Paper 2 that the constable exam does not have.
- Checking answers against a provisional key instead of the final one.
- Leaving questions blank rather than marking option E.
- Looking only at your total and ignoring the separate 40 percent gate in each part.
- Under-practising Gujarati comprehension because it feels like a language you already know.
- Trusting a retyped older paper without checking suspicious answers.

Police Constable Old Paper: Questions People Ask
Where can I download the Gujarat Police Constable old paper with answer key?
For the 2025 and 2026 papers, the Gujarat Police Recruitment Board publishes the question paper, OMR sheets and answer keys on gprb.gujarat.gov.in, and the 2025 materials also appeared on lrdgujarat2021.in. Older papers circulate on many sites, but many are retyped rather than scanned, so check suspicious answers independently.
Which Gujarat Police Constable old paper should I solve first?
Start with the 14 June 2026 paper, then the 15 June 2025 paper. They are the only two set in the current 200-mark format with Part A and Part B. Older papers were 100-mark tests, so they are useful for general knowledge content but not for timing or format practice.
Is the old 100-mark paper still useful?
Yes, for content. An older police constable old paper still carries questions on Gujarat’s history, geography, cultural heritage, the Constitution and general science repeat across decades. What an older paper cannot do is prepare you for the pace and structure of a 200-question, three-hour exam with a separate 40 percent gate in each part.
How many questions are in the current police constable exam?
200 questions for 200 marks, in three hours. Part A carries 80 marks across reasoning, quantitative aptitude and Gujarati comprehension. Part B carries 120 marks across the Constitution, current affairs with science and general knowledge, and Gujarat and Bharat history, culture and geography.
Is there negative marking in the Gujarat Police Constable exam?
Yes. Each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks. So does a question left completely blank, and so does marking more than one option. Selecting option E, which means Not Attempted, carries no penalty at all, so never leave a bubble empty.
Does the constable exam have a descriptive paper?
No. The Lokrakshak exam is a single objective MCQ test of 200 marks. Several sites wrongly describe it as having a 100-mark descriptive Paper 2, but that is the pattern for the PSI cadre. If you are preparing for PSI, see our separate PSI syllabus page instead.
What are the minimum qualifying marks?
You need 40 percent in Part A and Part B separately, which works out to at least 32 out of 80 and 48 out of 120. Merit is then prepared from your total out of 200 plus any applicable bonus marks for NCC, RRU or NFSU qualifications, sports or widow status.
Which questions were cancelled in the 2025 paper?
After reviewing objections, the board cancelled Questions 52 and 108 from the 15 June 2025 paper. The final answer key was released on 30 July 2025. In the 14 June 2026 paper, the answer to Question 16 was changed from option D to option B in the final key.
Are there Gujarat Police Constable old papers in Gujarati?
Yes. The exam itself is conducted in Gujarati, so the official question papers are in Gujarati. That is actually an advantage for practice, since you get used to reading technical and constitutional terms in the same language you will face on exam day.
Police Constable Old Paper: Where to Begin Tonight
If you only do one thing after reading this, make it this. Download the 14 June 2026 paper, set a three-hour timer, and score Part A and Part B separately with the 0.25 penalty applied.
That single sitting will tell you more about where you stand than solving ten older police constable old paper sets at your own pace. The older papers still have their place, as a source of facts. But the two current-pattern papers are the only honest rehearsal for the exam you will actually sit.
Start with 2026. Then 2025. Then mine everything older for content.
