Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026 has moved a step closer. The state government has sanctioned 200 new Unarmed Police Sub Inspector posts under the Gram Suraksha Kavach Yojana, and the DGP office has now allotted every post to a named rural outpost. Before you look for an application link, understand one thing clearly: this is a government sanction order, not a recruitment advertisement. Below you will find the district-wise allocation, the six-month deadline written into the order, and the complete official PSI exam pattern.

Why Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026 Is Not Open Yet
This confuses many candidates, so let us settle it first.
| What this document is | What it is not |
|---|---|
| A Home Department sanction order creating posts | A GPRB recruitment advertisement |
| A DGP letter allocating posts to outposts | An OJAS application link |
| 200 posts with named outpost locations | Eligibility, age limit, fee or dates |
| A budget provision of Rs. 10.91 crore | Category-wise reservation breakdown |
Government recruitment follows a fixed sequence. The department requests posts, the Finance and Home departments sanction them with a budget, the DGP office decides where each post sits, and only then does GPRB publish an advertisement.
Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026 is at the third stage. The advertisement is still pending.

The Six-Month Deadline Inside the Order
Condition 2 of the Home Department resolution contains a line worth reading twice.
Posts falling under the direct recruitment quota must be filled through direct recruitment within six months of administrative approval, after obtaining Standing Committee approval through the General Administration and Finance Departments.
Administrative approval was granted on 28 April 2026. Add six months and you arrive at 28 October 2026.
The DGP office issuing the allocation letter on 15 September suggests the file is moving in that direction.
A word of caution: the six-month clock applies to initiating the recruitment process, not to publishing the advertisement. Government timelines slip. Treat late October 2026 as an indicator, not a promise.

What the Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026 Allocation Reveals
Kutch alone takes 23 posts
West Kutch gets 15 and East Kutch gets 8, so the Kutch region takes 23 posts, roughly 12% of the total. No other region comes close.
The reason is not hard to see. Kutch shares a border with Pakistan, covers a vast area and has thin population spread. The distance between a police station and a village there is the longest in the state.
Eight posts go to coastal marine outposts
Marine police station outposts stand out in the list. Porbandar gets three at Gosabara, Ratdi and Porbandar Port, all marked coastal. Gir Somnath gets Saithar Rajpara and Chikhli under Navabandar Marine. Amreli gets Chanch and Kovaya under Pipavav Marine. East Kutch gets Tuna under Kandla Marine.
That is a direct signal of increased attention on coastal security.
Eleven posts go to Railway Police
Western Railway Ahmedabad gets 7 and Western Railway Vadodara gets 4. The outposts include Himatnagar, Patan, Kalol, Bhildi, Bhuj, Becharaji, Dwarka, Miyagam Karjan, Mahemdavad, Dakor and Ankleshwar.
The tribal belt gets 33 posts
Dahod 9, Mahisagar 6, Panchmahal 6, Tapi 5, Chhota Udepur 4, Narmada 2 and Dang 1. Together these eastern districts account for 33 posts.
PSI instead of constables at outposts
In February 2024 the state government publicly noted that against a demand for 114 constable posts at outposts, it had sanctioned 200 PSI posts instead.
In other words, the government chose to upgrade the rank stationed at rural outposts rather than simply add manpower. A PSI can register an FIR and lead an investigation. A constable cannot. For a rural complainant, that changes what an outpost can actually do.
The Scheme Behind Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026: GSKY
Gram Suraksha Kavach Yojana is a Gujarat government scheme aimed at extending police reach into rural areas.
When a police station sits far from a village, both filing a complaint and receiving help take longer. An outpost is a smaller branch of a police station, placed closer to the villages it serves.
Under this scheme the state is setting up 200 outposts, each headed by one Unarmed PSI. That is why the number of posts and the number of outposts are both 200.
Note the wording of the resolution: it refers to creating posts of various cadres for 200 outposts. So constable or other cadre posts for the same outposts may follow in separate orders. This allocation letter covers only the PSI cadre.

Gujarat PSI Exam Pattern 2026 (Official)
This is the Gujarat PSI exam pattern exactly as published by the Gujarat Police Recruitment Board for the Unarmed PSI cadre. The Main Exam carries 300 marks across two papers.
| Paper | Name of Paper | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | General Studies (MCQ) | 200 | 3 Hours |
| 2 | Gujarati and English Language Skill (Descriptive) | 100 | 3 Hours |
| Total | 300 | 6 Hours | |
Paper 1: General Studies (MCQ) — Part A
100 marks, 100 MCQs. Minimum qualifying standard 40%.
| Sr | Topic | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Reasoning and Data Interpretation | 50 |
| 2 | Quantitative Aptitude | 50 |
| Total | 100 | |
Paper 1: General Studies (MCQ) — Part B
100 marks, 100 MCQs. Minimum qualifying standard 40%.
| Sr | Topic | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Constitution of India and Public Administration | 25 |
| 2 | History, Geography, Cultural Heritage | 25 |
| 3 | Current Affairs and General Knowledge | 25 |
| 4 | Environment, Science and Tech and Economics | 25 |
| Total | 100 | |
Paper 1 marking rules
- Every question carries 1 mark.
- Every attempted question with an incorrect answer carries a negative mark of 0.25.
- Every question has an option E, “Not attempted”. Selecting option E attracts no negative marking.
- If no option is selected at all, 0.25 is still deducted.
- If more than one option is selected, 0.25 is deducted.
- White ink is prohibited on the OMR sheet. If used, the answer is treated as wrong and 0.25 is deducted.
- Candidates must qualify in Part A and Part B separately.
The rule that costs candidates marks: leaving a question blank is penalised exactly like a wrong answer. Marking option E is free. If you skip 20 questions without marking E, you lose 5 marks for nothing.
Paper 2: Gujarati and English Language Skill (Descriptive)
100 marks, 3 hours (180 minutes). Minimum qualifying standard 40%.
| Sr | Section | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Part A — Gujarati Language Skill | ||
| 1 | Essay (350 words) | 30 |
| 2 | Precis Writing | 10 |
| 3 | Comprehension | 10 |
| 4 | Report Writing | 10 |
| 5 | Letter Writing | 10 |
| Part B — English Language Skill | ||
| 6 | Precis Writing | 10 |
| 7 | Comprehension | 10 |
| 8 | Translation (Gujarati to English) | 10 |
| Total | 100 | |
The Paper 2 evaluation rule nobody mentions
Paper 2 is evaluated only for candidates who score at least 40% in Part A and Part B of Paper 1 separately.
So if you fail either part of Paper 1, your descriptive answer sheet is never opened, however well you wrote it. Clearing both halves of Paper 1 is the gate to everything else.
The medium of the examination is Gujarati or English, as specified in the instructions on the question paper.
Bonus Marks in Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026
Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026 candidates can add extra marks to their Main Exam score on five separate grounds.
| Ground | Extra marks |
|---|---|
| NCC ‘C’ certificate | 2 marks |
| RRU or NFSU qualification, 1 year | 5 marks |
| RRU or NFSU qualification, 2 years | 9 marks |
| RRU or NFSU qualification, 3 years | 12 marks |
| RRU or NFSU qualification, 4 years or more | 15 marks |
| Sportsperson at national, international, inter-university or All India School Sangh level | 5% of total marks in Paper 1 and Paper 2 |
| Widow woman candidate, not remarried at the time of appointment | 5% of total marks in Paper 1 and Paper 2 |
RRU is the Rashtriya Raksha University, formerly Raksha Shakti University. NFSU is the National Forensic Sciences University, formerly Gujarat Forensic Science University. A four-year degree from either adds 15 marks, which is a substantial edge in a tight merit list.
How the merit list is built
Gujarat PSI merit for document verification is calculated from the total marks in Paper 1 and Paper 2, plus the NCC, RRU or NFSU, sports and widow bonus marks. Candidates numbering approximately two times the vacancies are then called for document verification.
If two candidates tie on total marks, the older date of birth gets preference. If marks and date of birth are both equal, the taller candidate is preferred.
Gujarat PSI Salary and Pay Scale
Two different Gujarat PSI salary figures apply at two different stages, and candidates often confuse them.
| Stage | Pay |
|---|---|
| Contract period (5 years) | Rs. 49,600 per month, consolidated fixed pay |
| After satisfactory completion | Regular pay scale of Rs. 39,900 – Rs. 1,26,600 |
The consolidated figure of Rs. 49,600 comes from the board’s most recent Unarmed PSI notification and may be revised in the next advertisement. The pay scale of Rs. 39,900 to Rs. 1,26,600 is the one stated in the 2026 sanction order for these 200 posts, under ROP-2016.
Selected candidates must also obtain a light motor vehicle or heavy motor vehicle driving licence during the contract period.
Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026 Preparation: What to Do Now
- Start descriptive writing practice today. Paper 2 carries 100 marks, and a 350-word Gujarati essay alone is worth 30. This is the section candidates leave until last and lose most heavily on.
- Treat Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude as half the MCQ paper. Part A is 100 of the 200 marks in Paper 1, split evenly between them.
- Begin running now. Five kilometres in 25 minutes means holding a 5-minute kilometre pace five times over. That is months of work, not weeks.
- Build the option E habit in every mock. Blank answers are penalised the same as wrong ones.
- Check your caste and EWS certificate dates. Gujarat recruitments enforce strict issue-date windows, and an expired certificate cancels the application.
- Sort out the computer certificate. You can apply without it, but you cannot be appointed without it.
- Watch gprb.gujarat.gov.in and ojas.gujarat.gov.in. The advertisement will appear there and nowhere else.
Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026 Frequently Asked Questions
When will the Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026 notification be released?
No date has been announced. However, Condition 2 of the Home Department resolution requires the recruitment process to be initiated within six months of administrative approval. That approval came on 28 April 2026, which places the deadline in late October 2026. Government timelines can slip, so treat this as an indicator rather than a confirmed date.
How many posts are there in Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026?
200 Unarmed Police Sub Inspector posts have been sanctioned under the Gram Suraksha Kavach Yojana, one for each of the 200 new rural outposts. The resolution also mentions posts of other cadres for these outposts, which may be sanctioned through separate orders later.
What is the Gujarat PSI exam pattern?
The Main Exam carries 300 marks. Paper 1 is General Studies with 200 MCQ marks over 3 hours, split into Part A of 100 marks for Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude, and Part B of 100 marks for Constitution, History, Current Affairs and Environment. Paper 2 is a descriptive Gujarati and English language paper of 100 marks over 3 hours.
Is there negative marking in the Gujarat PSI exam?
Yes. Each wrong answer in Paper 1 carries a deduction of 0.25 marks. Selecting option E, meaning “Not attempted”, carries no penalty. But leaving a question completely blank, or marking more than one option, also costs 0.25 marks. White ink on the OMR sheet makes the answer wrong.
What are the minimum qualifying marks for Gujarat PSI?
You need 40% in Part A and Part B of Paper 1 separately, and 40% in Paper 2. Paper 2 is evaluated only for candidates who clear both parts of Paper 1, so failing either half of the MCQ paper ends your candidature regardless of your descriptive performance.
What qualification is needed for Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026?
A graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university, or a government-recognised equivalent. The age limit is 21 to 35 years for the general category, with relaxations for reserved categories, women, sportspersons and serving police personnel. A computer knowledge certificate is required before appointment.
What is the running time for the PSI physical test?
Male candidates must complete 5,000 metres in 25 minutes. Female candidates must complete 1,600 metres in 9 minutes 30 seconds. Ex-servicemen must complete 2,400 metres in 12 minutes 30 seconds. The physical test is qualifying in nature and its marks do not count towards merit.
What is the height requirement for Gujarat PSI?
Male candidates need 165 cm, or 162 cm for Scheduled Tribe candidates of Gujarat origin, with a chest of 79 cm unexpanded and 84 cm expanded. A 5 cm expansion is mandatory. Female candidates need 155 cm, or 150 cm for Scheduled Tribe candidates of Gujarat origin.
Which district has the most PSI posts?
West Kutch (Bhuj) has the highest allocation with 15 posts, followed by Amreli with 12, and Dahod and Bhavnagar with 9 each. Adding East Kutch’s 8, the Kutch region alone accounts for 23 posts, about 12% of the total sanctioned strength.
What is the salary for Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026?
During the five-year contract period the pay is Rs. 49,600 per month as consolidated fixed pay. After satisfactory completion of training and service, appointment is made in the regular pay scale of Rs. 39,900 to Rs. 1,26,600. Selected candidates must also obtain an LMV or HMV driving licence during the contract.
Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026: The Bottom Line
Gujarat PSI Bharti 2026 now has sanctioned posts, an allocated budget and a named outpost for every one of the 200 positions. What remains is the GPRB advertisement.
Given the six-month condition written into the sanction order, that advertisement should not be far away. And the exam that follows is a 300-mark test with a descriptive paper, a 5 km run and a hard 40% gate on both halves of Paper 1. None of that can be prepared in the weeks between a notification and its deadline.
