In the 2024 cycle, each paper had its own CCE Group A mains exam date: Gujarati on 25 November, English on 26 November and General Studies on 27 November 2024. This time Gujarati runs from 10:00 to 13:00 and English from 15:00 to 18:00 on one Saturday. That is six hours of handwriting in two languages, with a two-hour break in between.

The notice describes this CCE Group A mains exam date as ગ્રુપ-A ની મુખ્ય પરીક્ષાનું સંભવિત આયોજન, which means a tentative schedule. Treat the dates as firm enough to plan around, but confirm them against your call letter when it is issued.

The last row is the one to read twice. Candidates in 2024 had more than six months between the screening test and the descriptive papers. You have 60 days, counted from the last prelims shift to Paper I, and some of that time will pass before you even know whether you are on the mains list.
A weekend CCE Group A mains exam date helps working candidates, because nobody has to take three days of leave. The price is a tighter first day.
How to Use the 60 Days Before the CCE Group A Mains Exam Date
Waiting for the prelims result before starting is the most expensive mistake you can make with this timetable. Here is a week-wise split that works backwards from the CCE Group A mains exam date. It is our suggestion, not an official plan.
- Weeks 1 and 2 (up to mid-October): read the CCE Group A mains syllabus line by line and mark every format you have never written: charchapatra, press statement, writing on visual information, precis.
- Weeks 3 and 4: write one Gujarati format and one English format every day, in the exact word limits the Gazette sets.
- Weeks 5 and 6: General Studies in 30-to-50-word answers, because the 3-mark block carries 90 of Paper III’s 150 marks.
- Weeks 7 and 8: full sittings. At least two Saturdays should copy the real day: Gujarati 10:00 to 13:00, a two-hour break, then English 15:00 to 18:00.

What 28 November Actually Asks of You
The first CCE Group A mains exam date asks for six hours of writing. That alone is manageable. Six hours of writing in two different languages, with a lunch break in the middle, is a different skill, and it is worth rehearsing.
- Language switch: you finish a Gujarati translation and a charchapatra at 13:00, then start an English essay and precis at 15:00. The first 15 minutes of Paper II are where tired candidates lose marks.
- Hand fatigue: Paper I alone asks for well over a thousand words across the essay, vichar vistar, letter, charchapatra and report. Practise with the same pen you will carry.
- The break: two hours between 13:00 and 15:00. Plan food and water in advance, because you will not want to walk around looking for them.
One point the notice does not settle. Candidates with disability are entitled to 20 minutes per hour of compensatory time, which is one extra hour on a three-hour paper. If that hour is added after 13:00, Paper I would end at 14:00 and the break before Paper II would shrink to one hour. The notice does not say how the timing will be managed, so check the instructions on your call letter.
What Happens Between Now and the CCE Group A Mains Exam Date
Group B candidates have a longer run to January, and the best use of it is solving the CCE Group B Mains Paper 2025 with all answer keys before the syllabus revision begins.
The first step is the prelims outcome. GSSSB releases a provisional answer key cum response sheet behind each candidate login, then an objection window, then the final key and the merit list that decides who sits the mains. We track each of those dates on the CCE Prelims Answer Key 2026 page.
The notice fixes the CCE Group A mains exam date, but not the steps in between. The sequence below comes from the advertisement’s rules; the timings are not announced.
- Prelims answer key. In the 2024 cycle the provisional key came about three weeks after the last shift, on 8 June 2024.
- Prelims result and shortlist. GSSSB calls candidates up to seven times the category-wise vacancies, with separate lists for Group A and Group B. On the advertisement’s original 2,365 Group A posts, that is about 16,555 candidates. The total vacancies were later revised upwards, so the real list may be longer.
- Call letter. For the December 2025 Group A mains, call letters were available on OJAS about nine days before the paper, under the Secondary/Mains Exam Call Letter menu. Expect something similar, but wait for the notice.
- The mains itself on 28 and 29 November, with a 40% qualifying mark in every paper: 40 in Gujarati, 40 in English and 60 in General Studies.
CCE Group A Mains Exam Date and the Syllabus
Fixing the CCE Group A mains exam date changed nothing in the syllabus. The paper-wise scheme is still Gujarati 100, English 100 and General Studies 150, all descriptive and all three hours. The notice repeats that the syllabus is the one in the Gazette notification of 22 January 2026, which is the same Appendix-G and Appendix-H covered on our Group A syllabus page.
Is the CCE Group B Mains Exam Date Out?
No. The notice that fixed the CCE Group A mains exam date covers Group A only. GSSSB has not announced a date for the 200-mark objective Group B paper.
For reference, in the 2024 cycle the Group B mains came on 8 June 2025, more than six months after the Group A papers. That is history, not a forecast. If you are preparing for Group B, the CCE Group B mains syllabus is the place to start while the date is pending.

A word of warning about search results. Several pages titled “CCE Group A Mains Result 2026” refer to the Divyangjan drive, Advt. No. 271/202425, whose result came out on 12 August 2026. They have nothing to do with the CCE Group A mains exam date of Advt. No. 378/202526 in November.
