The GSRTC Conductor Syllabus for Advt. GSRTC/202627/32 hides its most expensive rule in the marking scheme, not in the topic list: a question you leave blank costs you 0.25 marks, exactly like a wrong answer.
That is not our reading between the lines. Clause D(5) of the notification penalises four things by 0.25: a wrong answer, a blank answer (ખાલી છોડેલ જવાબ), an overwritten answer and more than one marked option. The only safe skip is option (E). Most GSRTC Conductor Syllabus pages we checked stop at “negative marking for wrong answers”. A few quote a two-hour paper, a 70:30 education-to-exam split or a 40% qualifying mark. None of that is in the 2026 notification.
So this page sticks to what GSRTC printed.

| Questions and marks | 100 questions, 1 mark each |
| Time | 1 hour, so 36 seconds per question |

| Level | Gujarat board (GSHSEB) Std 12 |

One detail the table cannot show: the advertisement number is not printed on the notification PDF. We took GSRTC/202627/32 from GSRTC’s recruitment page, which lists the Conductor notice under that number.
Official GSRTC Conductor Syllabus: Section-Wise Marks
The topic names in this GSRTC Conductor Syllabus table are copied exactly as GSRTC printed them in Gujarati. The English column is our translation.
| No. | Topic (as printed) | In English | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | સામાન્યજ્ઞાન / ગુજરાતનો ઇતિહાસ / ભુગોળ / ગુજરાતના વર્તમાન બનાવો (ધો.૧૨ કક્ષાનું) | General knowledge, Gujarat history, geography, current events of Gujarat | 20 |
| 2 | રોડ સેફટી | Road safety | 10 |
| 3 | ગુજરાતી વ્યાકરણ (ધો. ૧૨ કક્ષાનું) | Gujarati grammar | 10 |
| 4 | અંગ્રેજી વ્યાકરણ (ધો. ૧૨ કક્ષાનું) | English grammar | 10 |
| 5 | કવોન્ટીટેટીવ એપ્ટીટયુડ અને ટેસ્ટ ઓફ રીઝનીંગ (ધો. ૧૨ કક્ષાનું) | Quantitative aptitude and reasoning | 10 |
| 6 | નિગમને લગતી માહિતી / ટીકીટ અને લગેજ ભાડાના ગાણિતિક પ્રશ્નો | GSRTC information; ticket and luggage fare arithmetic | 10 |
| 7 | મોટર વ્હીકલ એકટની પ્રાથમિક જાણકારીના પ્રશ્નો / પ્રાથમિક સારવારના અંગેના પ્રશ્નો / કંડકટરોની ફરજો | Motor Vehicles Act basics, first aid, duties of conductors | 10 |
| 8 | કોમ્પ્યુટરના ઉપયોગની પાયાની જાણકારીના પ્રશ્નો | Basic computer use | 20 |
| કુલ | Total | 100 |
Read the marks column again. Computer carries 20 marks, the same as the whole GK section, and together they make up 40% of the paper. Sections 2, 6 and 7 add 30 marks that no general GK book covers, because they are written for this one job. That is where a candidate who prepared the GSRTC Conductor Syllabus specifically pulls ahead.
Section 6 is the only line that names the corporation itself.

The GSRTC Conductor Syllabus Rule Most Pages Get Wrong
Here is what the blank-answer rule does to a real score. Say you are sure of 60 answers, get 20 wrong, and cannot touch the last 20.
- You mark E on those 20: 60 − (20 × 0.25) = 55 marks.
- You leave them blank: 60 − (40 × 0.25) = 50 marks.
Same knowledge, five marks lost to empty bubbles. With only 1.5 candidates called per post, five marks can decide a DV call.
Should you guess? The notification confirms option E but not how many answer options each question has. Gujarat OMR papers usually print A to D, with E as “not attempted”. In that format, a blind guess is worth +0.0625 marks on average (¼ × 1 − ¾ × 0.25). Strike out one wrong option and it rises to about +0.17; strike out two and it becomes +0.375. Averages hide risk, so guess only after eliminating at least one option, and mark E on the rest.
One more trap: there is no minimum passing mark, yet a score of 0 or less means no document verification. Reckless guessing is how people land there.
GSRTC Conductor Syllabus Explained Topic by Topic
The GSRTC Conductor Syllabus gives headings, not subtopics. The notification fixes the level at Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Std 12. The sub-points below are our study guide at that level, not official text.
1. General Knowledge, Gujarat History, Geography and Current Events (20 Marks)
Three of the four labels are about Gujarat. Start with history: Lothal and Dholavira, the Solanki period, the freedom struggle and the Mahagujarat movement that led to statehood on 1 May 1960. Then geography: rivers, dams, ports, districts and crops. Keep a notebook of the last 12 months of state news. National GK can still come under “સામાન્યજ્ઞાન”, so revise Constitution basics too.
2. Road Safety (10 Marks)
Mandatory, cautionary and informatory signs, traffic lights, lane discipline, helmet and seat-belt rules, speed limits, the “golden hour” after an accident, and legal protection for Good Samaritans who help the injured. A conductor guides the bus through junctions and platforms every shift, which is why the GSRTC Conductor Syllabus tests it separately.
3. Gujarati Grammar (10 Marks)
The heading says વ્યાકરણ (grammar) and nothing else. Some pages add Gujarati literature to this section; the notification does not. A few even paste English topics like “subject-verb agreement” into the Gujarati list. Ignore both. Revise સંધિ, સમાસ, અલંકાર, છંદ, જોડણી, રૂઢિપ્રયોગ, કહેવત, સમાનાર્થી-વિરોધી શબ્દો and શબ્દસમૂહ માટે એક શબ્દ from the GSHSEB Std 11 and 12 textbooks.
4. English Grammar (10 Marks)
The only section of the GSRTC Conductor Syllabus set in English. Expect tenses, articles, prepositions, voice, narration, synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitution and error spotting at Std 12 level. It is worth six minutes of the paper. Do not over-invest.
5. Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning (10 Marks)
Percentages, ratio, average, profit and loss, simple interest, time-speed-distance, number series, coding-decoding, blood relations and directions. Calculators are banned in the hall, so practise mental arithmetic until two-digit multiplication feels boring.
6. GSRTC Information and Ticket-Luggage Fare Maths (10 Marks)
Part of this GSRTC Conductor Syllabus section is about the corporation: its start in 1960, the central office at Ranip in Ahmedabad, divisions, depots and the services listed on gsrtc.in. The rest is the arithmetic a conductor does at the bus door.
A practice-style example (our numbers, not an official fare): 3 full tickets at ₹74 and 2 half tickets at ₹37, paid with a ₹500 note. Fare = 222 + 74 = ₹296, so the change is ₹204. If extra luggage costs ₹2 per kg and the passenger carries 18 kg over the allowance, add ₹36.
7. Motor Vehicles Act, First Aid and Conductor Duties (10 Marks)
Start with Chapter III of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Sections 29 to 38), which deals only with conductor licences for stage carriages. Section 29 is why your RTO conductor licence is compulsory, and Section 38 lets the state make rules on badges and uniforms. For first aid, cover bleeding, fractures, burns, fainting and basic CPR.
For duties, the best answer bank is inside the notification. Section P describes what a GSRTC conductor does:
- Issue the right-fare ticket from the EBTM machine while standing among passengers, and handle the cash.
- Register the bus at bus stations and control points, and deposit ticket cash at the cash office.
- Collect the reservation chart from the online booking window and check online tickets.
- Guide the bus onto the platform and help the driver while reversing.
- Help women, divyang and elderly passengers board, and help load luggage.
- Announce the next stop and manage the door.
- In a breakdown or accident, inform the nearest depot’s control point, arrange first aid, and assist the police and medical team.
- Work during natural disasters, fairs and elections.
Read that list twice. It is the closest thing to an official answer key for “કંડકટરોની ફરજો”.
8. Basic Computer Knowledge (20 Marks)
“કોમ્પ્યુટરના ઉપયોગની પાયાની જાણકારી” means basic use, not programming. The same notification demands a computer certificate as per the GAD resolution dated 13/08/2008, the CCC-type basic course, and that course is a sensible benchmark for depth: computer parts, Windows, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, shortcuts, internet, e-mail and online safety. No section of the GSRTC Conductor Syllabus rewards plain revision more.
How Your GSRTC Conductor Score Becomes Merit
Knowing the GSRTC Conductor Syllabus is half the job. The other half is how marks turn into merit. The written exam carries 100% weightage, with no interview and no weightage for your Std 12 percentage.
- DV list: 1.5 candidates per post. Called in one go, that is 4,318 × 1.5 = 6,477 candidates. GSRTC may also call them in phases.
- 5% bonus: widows who have not remarried and eligible sportspersons get 5% of their OMR marks added. A score of 64 becomes 67.2.
- Zero rule: 0 or below means no DV call.
- Waiting list: category-wise, up to 20% of posts, which is about 863. Valid for two years or until the next Conductor exam result, whichever comes first.
GSRTC Conductor Syllabus vs the 2023 Notification
The paper has not changed. The same eight sections, marks and one-hour limit appear in the last notification, Advt. GSRTC/202324/32. What changed is who writes the paper and what it costs. The 2023 column is as per that last notification.
| Point | 2023 (GSRTC/202324/32) | 2026 (GSRTC/202627/32) |
|---|---|---|
| Posts | 3,342 | 4,318 |
| Who writes the OMR exam | Shortlisted at 1:15 on Std 12 marks | Every applicant |
| Fee | Unreserved: ₹250 plus postal charges after being called | ₹300 + GST (unreserved), ₹200 + GST (others), while applying |
| Fixed pay for 5 years | ₹18,500 per month | ₹26,000 per month |
| First Aid certificate | Required for eligibility | Not listed in eligibility |
| Syllabus and pattern | 8 sections, 100 marks, 1 hour | Unchanged |
In 2023, GSRTC’s provisional list called 35,224 candidates to the written exam, held on 29 December 2024. This time there is no filter before the paper, so expect bigger crowds. Your 12th percentage no longer decides whether you sit the exam. Your OMR score decides everything.
Searching for a 2021 or 2022 GSRTC Conductor Syllabus? Those pages usually describe Advt. GSRTC/201920/32, whose paper was held on 5 September 2021. Use the 2026 notification instead.
Covering the GSRTC Conductor Syllabus in 60 Minutes
Thirty-six seconds per question sounds tight until you split the GSRTC Conductor Syllabus by question type. This order is our suggestion, not an official rule:
- 0 to 35 minutes: GK, Gujarati, English, road safety, MV Act-first aid-duties and computer. 80 questions at about 26 seconds each.
- 35 to 53 minutes: aptitude, reasoning and fare maths. 20 questions at 54 seconds each.
- 53 to 60 minutes: darken E for every skipped question, and check every mark is in blue or black ballpoint, the only ink the notification allows.

FAQs on GSRTC Conductor Syllabus
What is the GSRTC Conductor syllabus 2026?
The GSRTC Conductor syllabus 2026 has eight sections worth 100 marks: GK with Gujarat history, geography and current events (20), road safety (10), Gujarati grammar (10), English grammar (10), quantitative aptitude and reasoning (10), GSRTC information and fare maths (10), Motor Vehicles Act, first aid and conductor duties (10), and basic computer knowledge (20).
Is there negative marking in the GSRTC Conductor exam?
Yes. Under the GSRTC Conductor syllabus rules, each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks, and so does a blank answer, an overwritten answer or more than one marked option. If you want to skip a question, darken option E on the OMR sheet. That is the only skip that costs nothing.
How many questions are in the GSRTC Conductor exam, and how long is it?
The paper has 100 objective questions of one mark each, for 100 marks, and you get one hour. That works out to 36 seconds per question. It is an OMR-based paper, and the medium is Gujarati except for the English grammar section.
Where can I download the GSRTC Conductor syllabus PDF?
The GSRTC Conductor syllabus sits on page 2 of the official notification for Advt. GSRTC/202627/32. Use the download table on this page, or check the notices on gsrtc.in and the advertisement on ojas.gujarat.gov.in. We found no separate syllabus-only PDF for the Conductor post on the GSRTC website.
Is the GSRTC Conductor syllabus available in Gujarati or Hindi?
The official notification, including the syllabus table, is published in Gujarati, and the exam is held in Gujarati except the English grammar section. The notification offers no Hindi version and no Hindi medium. This page keeps every topic name exactly as GSRTC printed it in Gujarati, with an English translation beside it.
What is the passing mark in the GSRTC Conductor exam?
The GSRTC Conductor syllabus sets no minimum passing mark. However, a candidate who scores zero or less in the OMR test is not eligible for document verification. In practice, your merit rank decides the DV call, because GSRTC calls only 1.5 candidates per post.
Does Std 12 percentage matter in GSRTC Conductor 2026 selection?
No. In 2026 every applicant is called to the OMR exam, and the exam carries 100% weightage in merit. The 2023 cycle was different: candidates were shortlisted for the written test at a 1:15 ratio on Std 12 marks. You still need a Std 12 pass certificate to be eligible.
Which book is best for the GSRTC Conductor syllabus?
GSRTC does not prescribe any book for the GSRTC Conductor syllabus. The notification sets the level at Gujarat board Std 12, so the GSHSEB Std 11 and 12 Gujarati and English textbooks make the base. Add the Motor Vehicles Act text, gsrtc.in for corporation facts, and the duties list printed in the notification.
When is the GSRTC Conductor exam date 2026?
As of 22 September 2026, we could not confirm a written exam date for Advt. GSRTC/202627/32. The GSRTC website shows a scanned OMR viewer for a “Conductor & Helper Exam (20/09/2026)”, but the listing does not name the advertisement. Check your call letter on OJAS and the gsrtc.in recruitment page.
Final Word on the GSRTC Conductor Syllabus
The GSRTC Conductor Syllabus fits on half a page, which is exactly why people underrate it. Four things decide most of your marks: the option-E rule, the 40 marks in GK and computer, the 30 marks that only conductor-specific preparation covers, and speed on fare maths.
Your next step: download the official notification from the table above, print page 2, and sit one full 60-minute mock this week with the option-E rule in force.
